Are You Writing a Good Blog Post?
When it comes to marketing and driving people to your website, there are good and bad blog posts. A good blog post is going to include:
- A page title
- At least one picture
- An H1 header
- 3 paragraphs
- A call to action
- A link to your contact page
Blog posts are going to most likely be read on someone’s iPhone, tablet, or mobile device. Keeping this in mind, you want to have short and to the point information with great photos to grab a reader’s attention. This is why you should stay within 3 paragraphs for a blog post and have at least one high quality image. Don’t worry about how big your image is, if your website is mobile friendly it will automatically shrink the size to keep your pages from loading slowly. And we don’t want readers to loose interest if a page loads slowly, as they will move on to other websites.
A Page title is also one of the first things a reader sees, and should be a good description of your post that includes SEO keyword phrases. Once you start writing your post, be sure your H1 header contains SEO keyword phrases as well. The header is another way a search engine will determine where you will be ranking in search results. H1, H2, and H3 headers are the most important to a search engine, that’s why using SEO keyword phrases is important here as well.
To finish your blog post add a call to action at the end of your paragraph. Something that directs a user to do something, such as; ‘make an appointment’, ‘call today’, or ‘buy now’! This helps direct people from your blog post to your website and completes the goals of your business. The last thing you should do is add a link to your contact page, so it’s easy for the reader to get a hold of you. Following these guidelines will help you attract the right customers to your website, increase your visibility and search engine ranking.
